meteoblue weather & maps for Android

Used to be a decent app. Recently they started requiring that you watch a 30 to 45 second add before viewing any daily details. The only weather app I have used in 15 years that requires this. Paying for it does not remove all ads, either

This app is loaded with useful information. I need to learn more how to use it to predict attractive sunrises and sunsets for photography purposes.

I purchased a subscription so I didn’t have ads interfering all the time. A past review in 2021 said there was a problem and the response in July 2021 said they were aware of the problem and were working on a fix. I guess they never got it fixed!!! Or, don’t care the problem still exists! Ads are a PITA! If the ad problem were fixed this would be a 5 star review!

Overall, the app is quite good. Very detailed weather information, the maps are super fun and there’s a ton of them. I spend way too much time browsing them. I have two suggestions: one is a bug fix, the other is a feature. The bug is that on my device, when looking at the detailed/hourly forecast and I swipe two days forward or backward, the app stretches beyond the width of the screen. This means that I can’t see the temperature or time (left side) or full rain spot (right side). The suggestion that I have is to include weather/storm warnings somewhere. In the app you can see that there’s going to be high winds or ice precipitation, but having the NWS warning/alert in addition would be very nice.

It’s a good app. It’s accurate but the user interface and design are rather clunky. I gladly paid $1 to have the ads removed even though I only open the app a dozen times per year. I recommended it to others. Now they want $3. And the ads are more intrusive. That’s how you lose your cash cow fast… It’s weather data. I can get it for free elsewhere.
