Love this straightforward DBT app! I’m a therapist and would love to recommend it to clients. However, there are two reasons I’m giving it 3 stars rather than five. 1. Even I have a difficult time remembering the basics of ALL those wonderful DBT skills. And I do this for a living! 2. A passcode lock would do wonders for user experience in terms of privacy.
Useful timely and great tool. Easy to use.
I love this app. It's helping me track my moods and skills used effectively. I'm incredibly bad at using "diary cards" so having this in my pocket is making my impulse and mood tracking much better and easier! When I first used the app I wanted a note section. I couldn't find it and even sent a note to the developer suggesting one. It isn't in the first steps. After the mood logging experience you have to tap on the entry - you think it's done but it's not bc it doesn't have a green dot. So you open it up and there's the notes section. It looks nice and big. At first it's hard to figure out where to tap to get the keyboard to come up (hint it's at the top) but once you do you just type away until you're done. Exiting is a little nerve wracking because there's no save button. But it saves automatically so that's not an issue. However when you go back in to read your note you panic because you typed about 10 sentences and only the first 2 lines are showing. Fear not! Your entry is there! But you have to tap into edit mode which brings up the keyboard again. Then you have to flick (scroll) through the tiny two-line space to read the whole thing which is awful. That's the flaw. Please fix the notes section. This is agony.
I like the impulse app a lot. It helps me to process my triggers and urges when they happen. It also gives me the opportunity to give an account of the facts in the notes section as well as log the feelings I am experiencing and any DBT skills that I may have used. The issue I have had with it is in the notes section. Sometimes when the sentences get down below the keyboard you can't see what you are typing anymore and then if you go out of the note section part or all of what your have written has disappeared. It is frustrating to see what you have written just up and disappear. It doesn't look like there is a save button in the notes section like there is in the emotions section. Having a button there would be helpful and may help in solving this problem.
So far so good. Like the app because I can reflect on bad days and know what feelings/moods trigger my impulses!
