I set it up, connected this amazing Mobile-only FX unit, no problems. I got an auv3 synth to work too. But most of the meaty synths, like Neve and the Korg stuff, are not built for this. It feels like those that sell more expensive versions of their synths as vst plugins probably block this kind of use. Unless I’m missing something, of course. I’d managed to connect all these things through the Android Audio Midi Setup, but that was unstable. I really hoped this thing would bring me a useable Ableton <-> Mobile workflow. But still, I can make gnarly techno with the Soundsaw plugin. That’s not nothing.
I spent hours and hours trying to get it to work. It doesn’t work on my Android 8+. I give up and will try AudioBus.
It “is” a new version, dev team needs to be responsive and work through the issues. There are plenty of issues. I am holding off finishing review as bugs are being fixed
Google dropped the driver from iTunes which allowed Studiomux to work with Windows. Studiomux needs to furnish all the software needed including drivers for it to run on a PC or not claim it does. Furthermore they need to provide adequate information for the setup and operation of the software. All the good reviews are 4 to 6 years old. I used it then and it worked great but it was very picky about the order things were loaded. I used drivers for interface routines are whatever.
EDIT: App is being actively developed again
