Pretty much said it in the title! Old style grid based dungeon crawl perfect for this old fella
Legend if Grimrock takes inspiration from classic dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder. The game looks and sounds great, but the gameplay ends up being frustrating, especially on Mobile. Instead of innovating on these older games, Grimrock keeps the hectic real-time combat of its predecessors. Combat soon becomes a move-hit-move-hit dance routine whenever you encounter an enemy. The over reliance on timed puzzles also exposes the frustration with controls - it’s just plain difficult trying to tap a bunch of different buttons to move, flip a switch, attack an enemy, and cast a spell all at once. If you must play it, buy this on PC instead.
Third review…. Almost a good job … I’m not sure how fun it is to look up on the internet every other room’s puzzle or where to go and what to do… I made it to level five.. besides the utterly dark landscape, having to look up every step of the way… the monsters all of a sudden become impossible to beat, give me a break! A dungeon crawler should be fun, not this silly nonsense…
I played this game on pc. I was super excited to see it on IOS. It plays amazing, takes me back to my childhood playing PnP games. I wish they would release the follow up games as well.
I was enjoying this game on my Mobile, util level 5, Chamber of Pits. This room requires you to execute a perfectly timed sequence of 16 or so moves and jumps. This one room is notoriously hard on a desktop computer, but it's broken on the Mobile. The Mobile movement controls are simply not precise enough to get through this room. Between the lag, and the touch control inaccuracies, the room is impassable; which means the level is impassable, which means game over. Life is too short to spend hours in one room doing the same finger dance hundreds of times in level 5 of what is supposed to be a 13 level dungeon crawler. L.O.G. on Mobile at least needs a patch to slow down these dexterity/choreography tests. The devs could make it optional, for those masochists with tiny baby fingers playing on the fastest, newest devices.
