So as everyone has pointed out, the background mode needs some love. Having said that, this app rocks in it’s ability to connect- this should be the model on how to connect to a thingy. I plan on buying more of their products with the hope that they make the dashboard/data more relevant. I would gladly give it a 5-star rating if it could make graphs and reports over periods of time….
Does a pretty good job of monitoring your system. Pretty easy to use. Gives what’s important (to me) upfront. Easy to configure the controller. Only problem I had was after a firmware update to the controller, all the settings got changed back to defaults. So check your settings after a firmware update! Otherwise you maybe doing a bit of unnecessary troubleshooting.
I’ve been using this app w the smart shunt for about a year and it’s definitely improved. Most notably the Bluetooth range and storage of charging metrics. My only annoyance with it is having to open the app every time I want to check on the shunt. A live widget would be icing on the cake!
I’ve used less-expensive gear for years, and sprung for a Victron solar charge controller because of a sale. I should have done so a long time ago - the features, build quality, and software like this app are so far beyond other vendors. The latest feature of at-a-glance status is really good. The onboard data storage alone makes it worth it: the charge controller saves some of the trending data without being connected to a phone. Very happy with the Victron ecosystem. I will still build my own batteries (cost difference isn’t even close). For everything else I’ve slowly been upgrading to blue.
Evidently the hardware is good. Just hooked it up and got 50 volts on a rainy day with two of the larger panels. The IT falls on its face along with weak literary skills. The videos on line are in the same category. I downloaded two updates back to back then it crashed. I’m using an Android but want to use an android device as a backup but just asking for the tutorial crashed the software. All this in not uncommon with hardware people. They don’t know what smart IT looks like and hire somebody’s kid who talks confusing stuff to them. If this stings , you deserve it.
