dB Decibel Meter PRO for Android

I bought this by mistake and so was able to compare it with not only the National Institutes of Health guidelines but also another app. Not only does it function poorly, it's grossly inaccurate. Do not buy!

Although the advertisement says calibrated with high accuracy meter, this app seems to read 10db less than other apps. Also, no designation whether or not how the measurement is weighted. Most apps have a calibration feature to match the apps reading to another standard ( due to variations in microphone , pick up through various cases etc.). Could be nice but no cigar.

Other than the fact that there is no definition of the terms used (peak, max) or explanation of how they weight the acoustic spectrum as sensed by the Android microphone in calculating a sound pressure level, I find it to be an easy to use app for comparing different ambient environments. The accuracy seems to be good and the repeatability excellent. The UI is fairly obvious. I am not sure how they achieve the apparent dynamic range when they are stuck with the limitations of the Android sensor.

don't expect your watch to measure noise, it still needs to be done by opening the app on your Android, the watch only shows what you see on your Android. That is not what I expect.

I bought this as a backup to my existing Extech sound meter and it turns out that the results are very if not completely similar. The UI is great with a very flat and clean look and is just pleasing to work with. Highly recommend this app if you're looking for a decibel level meter !
