I’m a retired teacher who enjoyed helping 5 year old students who printed beautifully also learn cursive, as a “reward”. This is a great app for at home work. Nothing takes the place of one on one work with a writer, however. And the child using the app will require supervision and modeling for correct letter formation. A motivated adult needs no help, however. Cursive is an art form. It’s good for a child’s developing brain. It looks beautiful! Begin with the child’s name. The irritating sound Can be turned off, go to settings. My 7 year old grandson enjoys this work.
(Firstly, please make sure to have a stylus to take advantage of the design of this app--using one's finger does not allow someone to learn how to draw the shapes at the correct degree/slant.) I'm actually a mother in my 30's using this app to revisit the instruction I sorely took for granted when I was a child. Years of computing have degraded the quality of my penmanship and this app is successfully reviving what was taught in grade schools in the 80s. :) Except this time, it just feels less tedious--perhaps because this time the user gets to choose what parts she is interested in learning. I have a small child, as well, and I think I would like to share this with her, once she masters printing.
