Issue: staff members are racist and discriminating towards customers. Location: Windsor at valley fair San Jose Personnel: two women staff who were the only ones on site Date/time: 10/24/2024 around 6:30-7:15 The staff at Windsor at Valley Fair was super rude and kept giving us an attitude when we asked about the discount. When my boyfriend first approached them to ask about discounts they said there aren’t any discounts. And my boyfriend told me that why are they talking so meanly and unfriendly. Later when I approached. They sounded as if they don’t want to give me a discount. They gave me different responses to the discounts that are available at the moment and kept rolling eyes and talking like those mean bullies. If it weren’t for those cute dresses I need to buy urgently I would have just walked away right when they gave me that attitude. Here is exactly what happened. After trying on a few dresses, I decided to get two beautiful dresses and was ready to check out. The staff saw me but didn’t approach me until after 5 minutes of doing something else. When a person finally came to the desk, I asked the first person if there are any discounts available at the moment. She said she wasn’t sure. And then I saw and pointed to the sign that says download the app to get 10% off. She then said yea then download the app and I should find the 10% coupon on the app. I downloaded the app and clicked on the offers section and it said that there’s a 15% off online only code. I showed it to her and then she said I need to make the purchase today and then it should show up on my account next time. But on the sign it says there will be 10% right when I download the app so I pointed that out to her and she just says it usually takes a few days for the coupon to get to my account. And we thought that was weird because on the sign it said that I’ll get the coupon right when it’s downloaded. It was disappointing to have to talk to a salesperson who clearly doesn’t understand the store’s current discount deals and cannot explain things well. Someone was in line behind me and I didn’t want to hold the line for too long while trying to figure out the discount code for this purchase. So I stepped to the side to let the people behind me go. The two staff gave me an eye and shoved my dresses to the side and proceeded to check out with the people in line. The first staff went away even when I’m there after checking out all other people which took about 7 minutes. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out the code And then came the second staff. This second staff never talked nicely and respectfully. I told her that I downloaded the app and the 10% is not showing up. she then SAID there aren’t any 10% code in the app itself. I just need to show them that the app was downloaded onto my phone!!!!!! The first staff never told me about this and it did not look or sound like the first staff was aware of this at all wasting 20 minutes of my life. I can’t believe how salesperson at the register is not understanding how the discount works and never approached me by telling me there is a discount until I saw the tiny little sign on the side of the register. Okay so the second girl scanned the dresses and told me that she will put in the discount. Then I asked about the sign that says 15% when I’m joined as Windsor VIP. She said that “that’s for new members” and that’s it. But I was so confused and I said “well I am a new member right because I just downloaded”. She kept saying “only new members get the 15% discount and you already have the app downloaded” BUT I LITERALLY JUST DOWNLOADED IT INFRONT THE BOTH OF YOU. She kept saying that I will get it if I am a new member but I AM A NEW MEMBER. After 5 minutes of repeating herself as if I’m dumb and is not understanding what she said. She finally clarified that I will get the coupons through my email because they don’t apply the discount from the register. I was so frustrated I really wanted to say well why didnt you just tell me that 5 minutes ago. Since the 10% discount was applied by them customers will automatically think that the 15% would also be applied at the register. It took the both of them 25 minutes to explain the discounts CLEARLY to me. When the second staff kept repeating how it was for new members over and over. Whenever I say “I’m confused because I’m a new member.” She would not clarify herself but instead kept on saying this slower and slower as if I don’t understand English. We both feel attacked and discriminated against because they see that we are Chinese. They put on a completely different face and attitude when providing service to other customers in the store and the at the moment we were the only Chinese in there. We felt that we were treated differently and discriminately by your Windsor Staff. The dresses are cute and affordable. The staff….horrible and malicious. I hope to hear from you in regards of the issue. I trust that there are generous people at Windsor who would understand how we feel as customers when these unwanted and traumatizing experiences occur unexpectedly.
