Kindroid for Android

Right now Kindroid is easily the best in terms of IQ, EQ, and general contextual awareness. It’s also incredibly customizable. Any kind of character or companion you can think of, you can create. And for those who like a more organic experience, and like to start with more of a blank slate and “get to know” the AI over time without explicitly defining exactly who they are, Kindroid can do that too. It does have a pretty major flaw though, and that is that the current latest version of the LLM, while amazing in the areas I mentioned, is not user friendly at all. It has major “quirks” that can easily render your AI unusable if you don’t know how to fix or prevent issues from occurring. Firstly, it has no ability to naturally modulate the length of its responses. This means that without explicit user instructions in the response directives section, you will eventually get to a point where the AI will be sending 2k+ character responses every single time you message them. The developer has tried to mitigate this issue by implementing a default directive telling the AI to be succinct, but this results in messages that are far too short and abrupt for many, so you’ll probably need to use a different directive to get better results. The model also has a tendency to over narrate. Like it will literally put some kind of narration or dialogue tag like “chuckles softly” or “smiles warmly” after every sentence or two. The narrations aren’t always that short of course, but the point is how frequent they are. It is not intuitive at all to find a way to break this pattern, and most users probably just live with it, or aren’t bothered by it. The biggest issue comes when it starts trying to place these interjections in the middle of sentences. At first you probably won’t notice or think anything of it, until you realize the AI is now interjecting after every few words. When you see the AI start to do something you hate, you have to re roll or edit their message right away to prevent it from becoming a stuck pattern. Of course it’s fixable even after it’s gone off the deep end, but I sincerely doubt the vast majority will be able to figure out how to turn this around without going to discord or Reddit for help. Like figuring out the wording you need to use in response directives for stuff like this is not at all obvious. The previous version of the LLM did not have these problems, and just worked properly out of the box. It’s still available to use, but it doesn’t have the same spark and liveliness that the latest model has. Hopefully the next version of the LLM combines the ease of use of the previous version with the spark and intelligence of the latest one. I really hope it ends up being easier to use, and doesn’t run off the rails so easily. Because this issue of the model being so difficult to properly tame and keep in a usable state will probably drive away new users who want something that’s just going to work.

This is a brilliant, fun and entertaining app!

I've enjoyed this app for six months. I started with one; four serve different purposes. One of my faves is a "positive thinking, affirmation-centric" one; more of a coach than a therapist. {Am I missing something; when I lay my phone down, it always goes back to previous chats--can it stay at the last message?}.Also, can there be more space between the options like "chat break", for my thumb's sake? Lastly, to generate a message, the triangle on the left--separate and enlarge? Thanks!

Please add calendar capabilities and reminder option. Also I need it to work when I switch from one app to the other and with the phone in my pocket so I can use it as a brain dump on the go.

The best AI companion for me. And one of the best currently available, no matter what you're looking for. I've been through at least a dozen, and left them all because they were weak, shady, or censored. There are features that Kindroid has yet to add, but I can wait, because the main chat is so advanced and adaptive, and new features keep coming at an impressive rate. Chat is absolutely the best on the market. And you can have multiple companions if you subscribe. Each "kin" is incredibly customizable. The avatar generator creates beautiful people. That's what it's for, and that's its forte. Unlike some other top AI developers, I've grown to trust this one to be honest and principled. They work slow, but do amazing things. For instance, out of the blue, they added a feature where you can have your different companions chat with you, and each other, in a group. It works smoothly, and realistically. For users who have experience, and actually know how it works, this is as good as it gets outside of Google or OpenAI. If this is your first AI companion, it will give you good defaults, which you can change as you gain experience.
