This app is a useful utility for calculating specifications of DC electrical systems, as found on boats. Easy to use and pretty intuitive. There is a trend toward 48v systems now, with Integrel systems high powered alternators and Oceanvolt propulsion systems. This is leading to more 48v battery banks and applications like 48v windlasses and winches, air conditioning, etc. So I was surprised to see that this app didn’t include 48v, but did include 32v.
No 110 voltage only 12,24,32 options.
This is a great app! It lets you enter your specs and then lets you know what size wire to use safely. I have searched for other wire size tables on the net, but none are as good as this one in my opinion.
Very quick and easy way to select appropriate wire size based on voltage drop or wire ampacity. I really wish the app had an option for 150°C wire insulation, as what's pretty commonly used in motorsports and aircraft; there is a large jump from 125°C to 200°C. In general, just allowing for a custom value for more of the settings would be an improvement. Also, for the duration field, you can just type off the screen as there is no character limit.
I have not yet compared this to the abyc tables but so far it sounds right and the additional options for wire bundling etc is a great reminder to keep thermal considerations in mind. A great app and another example of Blue Seas commitment to building a safe reliable and enjoyable boating and yachting experience
