I believe this app is very useful in keeping track of plant growth. What I would like to see is a search function. Sometimes you want to look back at what you may have done in the past when the same issue arises. Also, being able to change the check box labels would be nice.
There's a lot to like about this app but overall it seems to be missing some features that would really bring a lot to this tool. At its base it is a diary - exactly what it advertises. You can track when and what you did with your plants and I really love the feature of taking pictures of the progress of each plant and then having the option to play it back and see a slideshow of growth. You have the option to add future tasks to each plant which is handy if you're wanting to keep track of when to water next. However scheduling these events is not a reminder feature as I predicted. The app assumes that you did what you pre scheduled at the time you scheduled it. There's no reminder to water or anything and instead it just adds the task to your diary. Big mistake! I need to be reminded and without the reminder I might forget which plant I watered when and can't trust that those entries are accurate. I removed all the pre scheduled events and will have to just manually add at the time of watering. It would be helpful to have a feature to remind you to do them and a yes/no if they were done and should be added to calendar. But that's not currently set. Additionally there is no batch edit feature. 90% of the plants Im tracking are outside and if it rains I have to manually open 35 different plants and add individual entries. Super time consuming and not at all convenient. Lastly while there is the option to set the default time of an entry there is no option to always set that default to the current time. It's several time consuming clicks on top of all those entries to get the time correct if you're worried about having the exact time of day (or even close to it) as part of your entry. I'd like to know if I watered in the evening or morning but you have to set the default to always pick one time and I don't want to change that default from 7am to 7pm depending on the time of day I watered. There's a lot of potential here and it's not a super expensive app so I'm not angry I bought it. I just wish it was a little more useful to make it truly the only garden app I need. But alas. Not quite.
Have 23 entries in this diary with pictures. Today, after taking some more pictures, the app started crashing continuously and am unable to use the app. Memory issues?
I have gardened for years! 40 Vegetable, cut flowers, perennial gardening etc. I have downloaded several apps I thought might work for me but they were too complicated or didn't do the job! An app needs to be easy to use functionally and get info in and back to the garden. THIS IS THE APP!!!!
...app shouldn't require user to restart app after taking just a few pictures. I'm using a 6 plus running 8.1.3. Fix that huge problem (the source of your lower-than-expected ratings), and I'll give you 5 stars, as will most of your other reviewers 'cuz it's otherwise a great app. As a bonus, you could add the ability to set alarms for future tasks (maybe a simple export to iCal), so one doesn't have to leave app to schedule a reminder.
