GeoExpert - World Geography for Android

My son is in 8th grade and needed to learn his countries and this app has been so much fun. He loves to learn and have battles with friends and family.

It is such an awesome game

This app was incredibly helpful in learning the names, capitals, and flags of the countries in the world. It works very well as a learning device and it even has gorgeous graphics. The one thing I wish was included is a way to learn landforms (mountains, rivers, deserts, etc) just because it’s such a great tool and I would love to use it to learn those things as well. This is an excellent app in my opinion, well worth the price.

I have found this far better for teaching my children (age 10 and 12), and even for reviewing for myself, than physical flash cards or floor puzzles. It is a fast, easy, and well-designed way to reivew geography. There will certainly be some uncertainty in the political boundaries, as there are political boundaries always undergoing some degree of dispute and subject to the mapmaker’s interpretaion. But as I see it, this app is meant for those who are learning, and as such, it’s excellent.

The game works as expected from playing the lite version, and seems like a good way to learn geography. I am, however, a little puzzled by the author's choices of what countries to include. The game includes Kosovo and Palestine, but not Taiwan or Western Sahara, even though all four are non-U.N. members with broad recognition. It also treats French Guiana as if it were a country, even though other non-sovereign territories (Greenland, Puerto Rico, New Caledonia, Martinique, ...) are not included.
