1. For example, you have gathered together three sequences, a triplet and a tile of East Wind, you can declare a win if anyone discards or you self-draw a tile of East Wind (you have to gather together special tiles in case of winning special points).
2. To chow means that if you want to gather together a sequence, and you already have two tiles of the sequence, for example, you already have Bamboo Four and Bamboo Five, while your opponent on the left happens to discard Bamboo Three, you can chow it to gather together a sequence.
3. The so-called sequence consists of three tiles of consecutive numbers, such as Character Three, Character Four and Character Five, while the so-called triplet of three same tiles.
4. To kong means that if you already have a closed triplet, say, you already have three tiles of Character Five, you can kong if anyone discards Character Five.
5. The purpose of Mahjong is to gather together four sequences or triplets with 14 tiles, plus a couple of pairs (few special points are not composed of sequences and triplets, see the introduction about points below).
6. For example, if you have gathered together two sequences, a triplet and a couple of pairs, and there remains an incomplete sequence of Character Two and Character Three, you may wait for Character One or Character Four to win.

Great game play, hooked big time! Would give 5 stars if I could turn flowers off completely, and if the scoring. Also would like an option where the dealer retains upon winning. Those are SMALL complaints considering how well the rest of the game is done!

Not for a newbie!

I find the instructions to be very incomplete. Nowhere does it explain what you do in the game. When I started my first game, after reading the instructions, I was surprised that dice were involved. Nowhere in the instructions does it say that you use dice and when, what do the numbers mean, etc. Also, what am I supposed to do? How do I know what tile to play, where to put it, where is the draw deck, what are the people saying and why aren’t they speaking English if I chose English in the settings, do the words they are saying have to do with the game, are they instructions, or is it just social chit-chat? I want to learn how to play mahjong but I can’t find an app that actually explains in English, with complete instructions in detail. It would be great if an app would guide a newbie through several games explaining what to do and why as play continues all the way thru to the end. I went to realmahjongg.com because I was told I could learn how to play on that website, but it costs $5.99/month and their ios app costs $6.99/month. That is way too steep for a game. I have a beautifull Mahjongg set the my Mom bought when she & my step-dad were in China 10-15 years ago. I was hoping to learn how to play it but it doesn’t seem likely from what I have found so far.
