The first feed I entered happened to be served over https. News Notifier demanded I enter a username and password even though it’s a public feed. Then it worked for a moment, downloading a batch of headlines, but when I tried to quit it kept demanding a username/password for the “authenticated” feed, then it crashed. What a waste of money and time.
I just upgraded to 1.1.1 and it appears to solve some CPU issues. Overall it is much better since 1.1 was released, and only once did I have some old RSS feeds appear -- previously they were appearing a few times a day and very annoying but now that all seems mostly solved.
The most recent version uses a huge amount of CPU resources (according to iStat menu: about 45%). I've decided to not use it anymore until this problem is fixed.
This version constantly uses 240% of the CPU and I get the spinning beachball when I click on the menu bar icon.
I have been looking for an RSS feed notifier for Google's Notification center that did two things: 1) I could choose the feeds and the update intervals 2) When I clicked the notification it brought me directly the article (not to an RSS app or feed). This app does both of those things wonderfully! The feeds are easy to create and label, and the setup is simple and reliable. Things I would LOVE to see in the feature: *More update interval choices (i.e. daily, hourly, etc instead of just minutes) *Summary customization (i.e. Choose 1,2, or 3 summary lines per each feed so that my notification center doesn't fill up so fast) *Right now the notification don't seem to make a sound, even though the option is available in the System Preference pane *Choose what happens when I click the notification (i.e. Be able to pick the site it directs to, app it opens, etc) Overall, GREAT APP!
