Maybe I didn’t read the fine print, but once you update this version, you can no longer play a full game until you pay $4.99.
I have been enjoying this game for some time now, but lately, reason for just one star: the computer takes a LONG time thinking of a word or what to do (Pass/change tiles). NOW….JUST NOW, 3:04pm on 5/20/17, the computer put a word “SEMES” (never heard of it) in a totally open space on the board, NOT LINKED TO ANY OTHER WORD, AND GAVE ITSELF 16 POINTS for double word score!!!!! HELLO??!! THAT’S NOT ALLOWED!!!! Just for kicks, I tried doing the same on an open space for triple word, AND IT REJECTED IT.!!! WHAT THE HECK???!! What is going on with this game BAKNO??? It’s been slowing up lately….and it now makes illegal moves. Seriously?? I wish the Scrabble company would just put their game out here.
Revised - this app causes your hard drive to run all the time. I am really going to see about a refund. Stay away from this app. I’m deleting it now. What a waste of money. The game works fine, but it’s very costly for such a rudimentary app. It only keeps track of your score, it doesn’t count the tiles for you as you place the letters so you have to do the math before you play the word - what century are the programmers working in? Should probably just play a simiar game at the Washington Post website and save your money. It has things like word lookup and OMG it actually shows you what the word is worth before you play it - Revolutionary! (tongue-in-cheek)
You can make many tries if you aren’t sure about a word being real. I like this. It makes the game relaxing to play and get your mind off of things. You can choose how hard you want to play. I play easy because I like to relax. Two things that might be helpful- 1. When you drag a tile onto the board, make it a different color so if you accidently drop it, you will know where it went when the board is nearly full. 2. Show the computers word, when it places it on the board, also a different color until you go. This way you will know where it went. But regardless, it’s worth the 5 dollars.
I've tried many other word game apps, and this one beats them all. I've never had the problems the first 2 reviewers mention, so maybe they've been fixed. Skript gives me a quick relaxing break from other demands on my desk. It's very much like Scrabble, and it requires both skill and flexibity with words, but also strategy skill. At first I could only win 1 in 20 games or so, so I didn't like it quite as well, but now I find I can win 30 - 50 % of the time. The only aspect of the game I don't love is the very remote and never-heard-of words the computer often uses. Even when I look up some of these words the dictionary has no definition. When this happens it hardly seems fair. Overall though, it's a quick game that increases your word knowledge and language skills in a fun way.
