I’ve played thousands of games of backgammon and not sure I’ve ever seen a game so unfair. The number of first role wins or number of doubles the computer gives itself is almost laughable but completely frustrating. Towards the end if I’m ahead it will start rolling me 1’s and 2’s yet will roll itself double after double to win in the end. Game moves along quickly enough but slow to start up as it needs to make a grand entrance at the beginning of each game. Download only if you want to be frustrated by the unrandomness of the dice rolls. I see why this has so many 1 star ratings and I’ve played this game many times. I actually deleted it once before because I was so frustrated at it. I re-loaded it only because there are very few choices for free games in backgammon. I’m becoming frustrated again at this and will probably get rid of it. Number of first roles it gives itself is probably 4 or 5 to 1 and the number of doubles it rolls itself is at least 2:1. I know because I watch the statistics.
I don't care what the developer says, there is no way these are fair or random dice. I played an entire 5 game set and never once got a single 6. Do not get this game, find another one.
Went with this one because it advertised fair dice. If fair means AI get double five to one , I guess it's fair
The computer's rolls are comically biased. Once in a while, you'll get a good run or especially opportune roll that belies normal odds, but this is standard fare when it comes to AI's player. It is difficult to play games repeatedly and not find oneself saying, "Yeah, right." I've played backgammon for over forty years and while it's common to mistakenly think one's opponent is getting lucky rolls, watching AI roll one very specific roll after another gets tiresome. My main thought is this: if the programmers are adept enough to create this 'chance' roll inbalance, why aren't they adept enough to create a good AI player? Deep Blue beat Kasparov in chess in 1997 and today's chess programs are even stronger. Why does AI backgammon play seem so weak when it's a simpler game? The roll bias seems to attempt to compensate for this deficit. I'd say find a friend and some material unloaded dice.
Once you are bearing off you have to carry every piece. too much trouble! Have to move each piece separately, no picking up second piece to cover a point with one move.
