I paid the $8 for the subscription because many of these loops are great but it didn’t actually allow me access to the drum loops and was ultimately a scam. Until this is fixed, I would advise you only use their free trial and redownload when you are out of your 4 free songs, like the app has me doing despite paying. Bummer! Could have been a good app.
When I play along with Drum Genius, it improves my playing. I try to listen to a phrase for a minute before playing. The loop inspires me to to play in sync with the groove. So much fun.

This a great app. I'm an aspiring bass player and having access to all these feels that can loop presents a great learning opportunity. The loops are well executed and the app is certainly a patient accompanist. Recently I was checking out the New Orleans type loops and was delighted to hear that the bass line for John Scofield's 'Three Sisters', a variation on the Pointer Sister's 'Yes We Can Can', that I've been working on, could lie right in the Gene Krupa groove 'Jungle 1' from the app. The feel has many expressions. This is way more fun to practice with than the metronome.
If you play in a band and bring a new tune to the stand this app is the quickest way to communicate to your rhythm section the feel you are looking for. The references to certain recordings really help you get to the groove you have in mind. This app has really opened up my ears and is making me a more creative improviser. Thanks, Mauro.
