I’d love to use the app during filming, but it is completely unreliable when it comes to connecting with your camera. When it works, it’s gold. 85% of the time, I can’t get the camera and phone to connect. What a shame.
I was successful transferring images to Android se. it is easier with NFC on android but it did work easier than the past.
You literally could not make a more useless, confused, ineffectual app if you tried. A team of random starlings, trapped and tossed into a giant cage filled with laptops, could peck there way to creating a more useful photo transferring app by accident than these clowns created on purpose.
Comic book store guy: “Worst app ever.” I have tried to use this app with 4 different Sony cameras. It’s terrible with all of them. Somewhere in this pathetic excuse for an app is a useful app that has given up trying to get out. Imaging Edge is a reminder how bad BlueTooth is. Frustration 1: You _will_ have to reconnect the app to the camera _many_ times in just one session. It spontaneously disconnects. It crashes. But most frustratingly, it does not spontaneously connect. You can set it up, but it will not remember the camera. Each time you must go through the steps to connect. And there are needless added steps through a poor menu system, including reading a QR code off the camera. Often _many_ times in the course of a few minutes. 2. The app will not recognize a camera that it has connected to before. You will see a huge and incomprehensible error message that can be sent to Sony. In _years_, Sony has NEVER offered any improvements to Imaging Edge. The company is 110% indifferent to user complaints. Canon, Nikon, and others all provide better remote camera control. That Sony is so hostile to customers is a Sony choice. 3. Once connected, use is clunky. Some features are good. You can adjust ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc. You can also trigger the shutter — the #1 thing many users will want to do. But that feature is insanely unpredictable. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. Maybe the camera will take 20 frames, maybe none at all. It is awful. All the things you might imagine Imaging Edge doing _can_ be done with the apps for cameras from other manufacturers. They can be done when taking cellphone photos. But not with Sony’s Imaging Edge. Worst app ever.
I love my Sony RX100 ViII, but this app is one of the worst so have ever used. It is difficult to sit up and is NOT 76er friendly. It does so little, I will uninstall it from my phone and transfer photos to my phone in an alternate way. Very disappointed!!
