It is hard to find the books or maybe I am just not confident in working this new system yet. JJ
This application has the most poorly written content included in its collection. I do not look for lofty prose and do not set a high standard. In addition to that once you select an atrocious book there is no ability to wipe it from your history. It stays on your list forever. To round this out the navigation feels mysterious. Downloads do not appear, then it is difficult to find where to actually read what you have downloaded. I have removed the app but hate to know they have my account still in existence.
There’s no way inside the app to read a book you’ve downloaded. The only button is “redownload.” Anyone who says you can read ebooks within this app is smoking something.
It takes installing two apps to get started, Freading and Digital Editions. Then you have to go to three places to read a book. First to the library web site to check out and download, then to the files app on my device to select the download and select Freading to read it. Once you have the book open and reading, I like the ease of navigating, brightening or darkening the page. However it did take me a while to figure out how to return a book. There is very little documentation or help for the app, so can be frustrating getting started.
This app is the most frustrating reading app I’ve ever used. It takes a magic touch to actually access the book you’ve borrowed. I click the book in my downloads. It just goes to my library’s listing of the book and shows that it’s been downloaded. I go back and click redownload, as that’s the only other clickable thing to do. Opens a blurry screen with what looks like a might become a progress bar, but never does. It’s impossible to actually open the book that you’ve been told you have downloaded. And even at the start, the library app doesn’t take you to the Freading app. It just downloads the book and stops there. You have to know to then open the Freading app, although that doesn’t do a lick of good. Magically, I’ve been able to read some books through this app, but I could not begin to tell you how.
