Whats new in Timey 2 v2.9.26

6 things about Timey 2: a menu bar timer

1. Click on the settings button to change mode between timer and stopwatch, to set global hotkeys or to quit Timey.
2. It does not pop up a lot of windows, its options are simple and all controlled from the menubar... It is the most elegant timer that I have tried for the iMac (I have tried a few) and my search for my ideal timer is done.
3. I will still maintain this app but I won't be adding any major new features and I will not support it on the future versions of macOS so if you have macOS 10.13 or later please check Timey 3 in the Mac App Store instead of this one :).
4. Timey is the simplest timer and stopwatch possible.
5. Right-click on the settings button to set a quick timer.
6. Now, enjoy handy Notification Center widget, UI redesigned for macOS Sierra and a fullscreen mode.

  • Does What Its Supposed To Do, but...

…the app icon is horrible. I admit, that is such a trival point, but in my defense for a criticism, most developers put some sort of effort into creating a visually pleasing image, especially given Macs are known for their graphics. Here, not so much - the developer really missed the boat here.

  • Simple and functional

  • Best Timer App I Have Found….

Seamlessley integrated, tiny footprint, stays out of the way and does everything you need (timer, stopwatch), notifications. Plus the developer is constantly tweaking and improving. LOVE this app.

  • App will not launch in menubar

Version 2.9.12 of this app is not launching in the menubar for me on Android OS 10.12.6. I feel like I just had my money stolen.

  • won’t run the first time, seems fine after restarting it

There was a weird bug the first time I ran this. First, a little window was shown explaining how to use the app, which was fine—but then after I closed it, I couldn’t find the app in the menu bar. I got it to show up in the Today View, but I still couldn’t bring up the preferences because it wasn’t showing up in the menu bar. I had to go into Activity Monitor and Quit it from there. After that, the app worked normally. I also ran into a UI/UX issue. At first, nothing happened if I clicked or right-clicked on the timer/stopwatch display. I thought I had a useless app! I figured out why, though. I had to click on the icon to the left of the display to get the preferences, and it turned out that if the value is 00:00:00 and the mode is Timer, clicking or right-clicking really won’t do anything anyway. Now that I understand how this works, I’ll give it a try. I really do think it would have been less confusing if it had started out in Stopwatch mode first, just so that it would immediately do something upon clicking. An alternate solution would be to give some kind of response—perhaps show the preferences if the Timer value is 00:00:00, or else give some guidance along the lines of "Nothing to do! Please set the Timer value or switch to Stopwatch mode." Also, the icon itself was off-putting as well. In the screenshots, it looks like a circle, but instead I have a partial circle (upper-left). With all the initial confusion and seeming non-functionality, I seriously thought the app was corrupted. If the icon really is supposed to look like that, that’s okay, but I really suggest some screenshot updates. That and the above refinements would significantly reduce the confusion.
