When I need to communicate with a device in which testing the IP over RS-232 comm layer is necessary, I used to have to bust out my PC and run an app called "Hercules". Now, I no longer require the PC to have an ethernet terminal session. And this app also supports serial connections which makes it very flexible, and is icing on the cake.
I usually don’t write reviews and just leave it up to others to comment. I initially bought it to console my Watchguard Firebox modded with pfSense. No problems/easy setup. I just bought a Foundry Fastiron LS648. Swapped my settings and compatible cable... bam. Works. I’m familiar with Windows Putty, and it does a lot, but just get me on the job to do what I need to do. It works and works very well! 5 star recommend. I hope the keywords pick up in the iTunes search engine. I scoured the web for an Google app such as this. People should know about this solution outside of the Google ecosystem. It solves a huge issue rather than messing with OS X terminal, or pulling out the Windows machine.
Horrible product. Not intutive and could not connect to any of my Cisco SSH clients via telnet or serial USB adapter. And, they ask to e-mail for support. Haven’t found e-mail yet. Or hidden so not easy to find. Website support was too basic. Found manual and would have reconsidered purchase after reading. Worst 5$ I’ve ever spent in my 20 years of IT support.
It was perfect at one time. But ever since the upgrade the app crashes when connecting to any IP with a port. Now I’m forced to boot into windows and use Putty.
This only supports terminal server type devices that map IP Network ports to serial ports. (The program appears only to connect to serial devices via IP address, and cannot connect to ordinary Android Serial Ports). I had a USB to Serial port cable, hoping to connect in to a Cisco Router. No luck -- had to get a different program! If you ARE connecting via a terminal server type remote serial-to-IP appliance, they appear to have good debugging capabilities (HEX display, for instance).
