I Had Gutterball and Gutterball 2 (paid for) on older Macs and they were great games, lots of fun for years, won’t work on this Android and this OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. So I downloaded this free version at App Store. I’m disappointed to some extent in its performance, controls are different, can’t play against computer opponent. The golden pins thing is arcane. I have over 1,000 golden pins tonight I’m supposed to be able to spend, can’t find anywhere in the game to use them. Supposed to be more than one bowling lane to use, I only have one, Retro. (And I suspect since I quit the game tonight, my golden pins will be gone when I restart it, don’t know yet.) For those who said it won’t play at all, they were probably trying to play tutorial. Tutorial doesn’t work at all. I had to turn it off to play. That’s a big flaw in the software. Skunk Studios has done an excellent job with several games I’ve bought from them in the past. This one is not among their best. It’s free at App Store, maybe if we buy it at their website we can get a better product. Who Knows? —————————— Update: After quitting and restarting game, I found I still had accrued golden pins, still don’t know how to use them. For those who complain they can’t control path of ball after release, you can’t do that in real bowling; that’s an error in Gutterball 1 and 2. This is truer to real bowling. To get strikes, bowl from right to hit headpin on its left or from left to hit headpin on its right. The arrows on the lane are there for a reason, to help you guide the ball. In real bowling, you lay the ball down on the lane where the arrows are. I used to bowl for real and it works.

Maybe I am lucky (??), but this game works fine on my Android (10.11). You can spin the ball or go straight-line, depending on how your torque your mouse upon release (using your mouse buttons and the angle you are moving the mouse when you “release” the ball). The pin action seems semi-realistic and strikes and spares are very doable. The graphics are very good. The on-line commentary can be a bit snarky and repetitive, its a bit like being trapped in the movie “mean girls" (but you can turn that off). Overall a very nice game. No complaints (especially since I am playing the freeware version). I did skip the tutorial (I mean its bowling — how hard can it be?). Been having lots of fun — thank you.
