I open it up. It opens for half a second, then it closes back down. I’m a little miffed. The best solution I could come up with was: to delete the app and get it again. But I lost all the data—my playlists from playing organ the last 4 or 5 years. 😢 p.s. And so it worked for a week or two, then started shutting down again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I love this app it is been so nice to see it slowly getting better and better over the years. I have recently discovered the ability to choose if I want to listen to the music with without words and it is just so nice! Thank you!
The main functionality of the application is good; however, the recordings are terrible. They are way too slow (example: On This Day of Joy and Gladness is a tempo of 46-56 in the hymn book but the singers are at 34!!) the string quartet is distracting and not what conductors or singers need who are trying to listen to or learn the music in manner that it will actually be performed. The recordings round of phrases and use ritardando way too much—again, not like it is sung. New choristers don’t need this—they need up to tempo recordings with an organ or piano accompaniment that doesn’t add long pauses and ritardandos. Even a congregation of trained musicians wouldn’t sing it like this. Church organists are trained to not pause overmuch between verses because it slows down the congregation—they never get back up to tempo after deep ritarandos and pauses. No one should be conducting congregations like this. String quartets sound different and can throw new choristers who are just need the music to reliably repeat so they can conduct it at home in preparation. I’m teaching my wife to conduct right now and it is really frustrating to use this app. It’s much better when I just record the music for her on my keyboard so that it better reproduces the conditions she needs. Recommendations: follow the hymn book tempos. Provide a fast and a slower recording within tempo settings of the hymnbook. Make sure the repeat and playlist functions work properly. Get rid of the strings and use organ or piano instead. For context, I was a music major at BYU, played organ in wards for decades, taught organ and conducting, conducted choirs and orchestra, and have played organ for devotionals including a Seattle President Nelson devotional for 49,000. I’m the organist for the Seattle Ensign Chorus and Symphony. The recordings in this application need to be completely redone. They are non-representative, insipid, overly slow and interpretive, and useless for their intended purpose.
It would be really great if you could divide the Youth music into albums instead of setting up playlists to play each year only. That’s the only thing I don’t like. Can’t wait for 2023!
This app is amazing to help you find beautiful music
