My kids are 6 and 4. Since they are little, they do need a simple app. However, this app is too limited to be worth $4.99. I feel I wasted five bucks, to be honest. The only tools available are a pencil, a brush, and an eraser. The pencil is just a thin version of the brush. There is no "paint bucket" to fill large spaces with color. To get any colors not in the standard set at the top left, you have to open up the Android color wheels and palettes window, which is actually too difficult for a small child to navigate. For example, my kid wanted to draw a carrot. A CARROT. Shouldn't be too difficult, right? Well, she drew the outline, and then colored it yellow, because orange was not easily available. I'd encourate the app writer to take these concerns seriously. This could be a good product, but it needs work.
The drawing surface covers less than 25% of my Android's 27" screen. The rest is filled with nothing. If you fill the background of the paper it is difficult to find out how to go back to white. I am a photoshop/ Lightroom user and it took me some time to figure it out. Starting over, trashing the drawing just brings up another paper with the same color background. Very limited for what you are paying for. Also there is an email export button, not really appropriate for a kids program. Wish there was a preferences/settings so I could limit what my kids were saving and disable e-mail export.
I'm a little disappointed that I bought this app for 5 bucks. I like to create "child-like" graphics and not only is this program EXTREMEMLY simplistic, but one can only create in landscape mode. There is not even an option to rotate the page to portrait. Five dollars isn't much, but in the scale of app price vs quality, it's overpriced. I'm hoping for some added features in the next update, because it COULD be a really cute package if it had more options.
Keep in mind this is a very simple bare bones program. I bought it for my 6 year old grand daughter who rated it good but was a bit disappointed that it didn't do more. On a small screen the coloring pages are a challenge. It works for us as a starter program for using a Wacom tablet. The saving options are a bit akward. You have to dig into your user library> application support> kids paint to find the saved files. There are no instructions nor online help.
My kids got to play with this app maybe twice, now it won't show up when we try to open it. Nothing happens. Biggest waste of $5.00 ever. I want my money back!
