    CrossPix Magic Express Reviews

    • Does not work properly with ElCaapitan

I really loved these monograms, but since downloading El Capitan, the game does not work properly. You can no longer ready and of the text. I hope this is updated and perhaps add more games.

    • One of the worst

Nonograms are great puzzles. CrossPix is fun because it is a nonogram puzzle. But it is a poor app. These puzzles are intrinsically rewarding and, as they get harder, require trial and error to solve. Thus they should have no timers, error limits, error counts, or negative consequences for errors. You certainly should not have to pay for additional puzzles. I hope locked puzzles will also disappear from apps someday. My recommendations (all of these apps can be cleared and played multiple times): Color Cross Collections (5 star) use multiple colors to make some truly artistic pictures (especially in Collection 1). Some are quite challenging. It does have locked puzzles which means experienced players have to start with simple puzzles. But these collections include some of my favorite because of the colors and the artwork. No penalty for errors and no timer until the picture is complete. (Note: these collections are new. If you only saw the original Color Cross, check these out. There are some real gems here. The animal pics (Collection 1) are my favorite). If you buy a Color Cross Collection and have f.lux, you will have to switch to one of the following single-color apps during low-blue-light operation: Dot By Dot (5 star) is really the BEST nonogram app I have seen. In addition to being artistically pleasing, it allows users to select from three different difficulty levels. It encourages trial and error work (even provides an eraser). There are some truly challenging trail-and-error puzzles in this collection where it is necessary to experiment with different places to begin the picture. Trying this app demonstrates how nonograms apps should be designed and shows why timers, error limits, error counts, and locked puzzles are inappropriate for these puzzles. My only gripes about the app is that the entire background has to be filled in before it considers the picture complete and, much worse, there's ONLY ONE COLLECTION of these wonderful puzzles. Dot by Dot also has the only really good help or teaching program (for all but the most simple puzzles) that I have found. It's worth the cost for this alone. iPACROSS (3+ star) is a decent program and organizes puzzles by size so players can go straight to their preferred size (which is not always the same as difficulty). It features an annoyingly huge timer and the relationship between the finished design and the picture it represents is sometimes vague. More frustrating, but still better than CrossPix, are Fantasy Mosaics 2 and 3. These are designed for beginners and never get larger than 15x20, but have frustratingly low error limits and other design flaws. Much of my frustration is a result of poor interface with a keypad. They may be less frustrating when played with a mouse.

    • addictive but not mindless

I love these games but we need more. I have bought and completed all of the packets ….more please… Or at least tell us how to redo the ones I have bought...

    • Great with a few flaws for the experienced

Very addicting for people who enjoy solving puzzles because it works great with a handful of puzzles for free. Using points to unlock new puzzles is a brilliant idea and easily scales to keep all levels of players happy. Unfortunately, the interface and some puzzles leaves me wishing for more. Interface, perfect except it wasn't designed for speedy users that enjoy zipping through puzzles. It is either my trackpad or the program doesn't support two mouse buttons. Having to constantly click between fill and empty completely destroys my train of thought and I'm forced to focus on switching between the two as little as possible which costs time in the end when you try to remember what all you meant to mark. Also, dragging along tiles that are already marked with the same marking removes them (along with another problem) will definitely cause confusion and waste time if you don't pay attention. Flawed puzzles, probably not as nice and simple as the puzzle makers believe. Just like how sudoku puzzles can have multiple solutions, these puzzles can have multiple "correct" solutions. Unfortunately, the program enforces only ONE "correct" solution so when you get to the end with at least two possible solutions to complete the puzzle, you are taking a risk of entering the "wrong" solution and receive a penalty. I have already encountered two puzzles with multiple solutions already (and guessed wrong for both) and I'm not sure if I want to continue at the risk of becoming penalized in other flawed puzzles. Aside from my first issue above, this is a great program for beginners and intermediate players.

    • Good and addictive

I have played a game like this before and it was addictive and so is this one. it comes with 30 levels and you have to pay for more packs but thats not terrible considering the ones you get get harder. the add-ons are for if you like the game and the 30 levels show you about the game to see if you would want more so it makes sense you mat have to poay to get more.it is a good addictive game.
