After trying Logos, Olive Tree, Tecarta, and Kindle, Accordance is by far my favorite Study Bible app. Here’s why: 1) Broad Selection. I like to consider diverse perspectives. Through Accordance, I own and regularly access the following: Academic / Scholarly: New Oxford Annotated Bible Mainline Protestant: New Interpreter’s Study Bible Evangelical: ESV Study Bible Historical Context: Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible Jewish: Jewish Study Bible (Old Testament) / Jewish Annotated New Testament Catholic: Catholic Study Bible Orthodox: Orthodox Study Bible Devotional: Life Application Study Bible New Oxford Annotated Bible, HarperCollins Study Bible, and New Interpreter’s Study Bible are the three in which I was initially most interested. Tecarta offered none of the three, Logos offered one, and Accordance, Olive Tree, and Kindle each offered two of the three. 2) User Experience: It’s amazing to be able to quickly toggle through all eight of my diverse study bibles for a given Bible verse or passage. It’s especially amazing to be able to do that anytime, anywhere on my Android or Mobile. Kindle’s workflow is very clunky for comparing multiple study bibles. It’s been a year since I chose Accordance, so I don’t recall all the details of the other apps, but Olive Tree was the main alternative I seriously considered since neither Logos nor Tecarta offered the breadth of perspectives that I sought. I preferred the look and feel of Accordance to Olive Tree. 3) Value: Accordance isn’t free, but then again neither are the other alternatives I considered. (Hard copies of these study bibles certainly aren’t free, either). One advantage of Accordance is that they regularly have pretty compelling sales. I initially purchased one or two study bibles to get going. I picked up the additional titles one or two at a time, as I found 20-50% sales on select titles. Another complementary offering is the YouVersion app. YouVersion offers no study bibles. However, it offers all of the translations/versions of the Bible that I want. For free. And for any verse, it’s easy to compare all my favorite options. Neither Accordance nor YouVersion meets all of my Bible Study needs and preferences. But together, they come incredibly close to accomplishing that!
I love accordance. The maps need enhancing and the ability to search resources on my Mobile. Sermon prep is difficult without a desktop or laptop. However I still highly recommend the software. I have used it 15 years.
Like the NASB and this makes it even better. Thanks for being early and getting this version out for us to be able to read. Not sure how it ended up free but that was an unexpected bonus.
First of all, I love everything about the actual app. It is a wonderful blessing and so helpful for diving into the word. However, recently the beautiful brown and orange logo was replaced with a white and red logo that is truly revolting to my eyes. On the Android desktop, I was able to change the app icon back to the old one (thankfully I saved the PNG of the old logo). However, I cannot do that with Android and it just bothers me so much. Could you please change the logo back or at least provide a setting to choose between them? Thanks!
I purchased Accodance over a year ago and I didn’t realize that I could have such a plethora of information at my disposal. I now read my Greek New Testament and Hebrew Bible on my Android wherever I am. Thanks to Accordance Mobile App.
