So back when I first got this app many years back it was pretty awesome . They didnt have a ton of songs and a lot of those songs were in genres I didn’t care for …but that didn’t matter cause I was buying lessons I wanted and ignoring all the others ….. then things started going downhill as the song catalog started growing. At random times (I’m thinking during updates but not sure) some of my purchased lessons would disappear …..but customer service was decent and walked me through trying to restore them ,which I more or less was able to . The problem there was I didn’t keep a list of the songs I purchased and apparently neither did they cause it became a thing for them to verify songs I knew I purchased. So half my fault for not keeping a list and half the companies for not having any books on sales per person , or whatever the reason they couldn’t verify…..I had bought so many lessons at different times that I had pages of lessons within the app..I mean I still do, but I have no idea if some of those purchases I made and never got into learning have disappeared permanently….so after awhile I lost content I purchased, but again customer service was half decent in responding and gave me a year free subscription…. But this time it wasn’t even a question of suggesting ways of restoring purchases …just a quick free year subscription , I assume because there was no way to verify a lesson I know I had purchased ( and used a lot in he past ) and it seems they really gave up on trying to keep track of sales since they were now a subscription only service…. Now even if I’m in the minority in hating the subscription only platform I still don’t understand not having the option to buy individual lessons ….I’m guessing income wasn’t steady or consistent enough so playing on the laziness and hopefulness of guitarists to keep subscriptions even if not using that subscription for long periods of times made sense to the bottom line….still I say you can have / keep that steady income and more than likely added income on top of that by offering individual lessons for sale at a higher rate than usual.. you could say something like “subscribe for a month at such and such dollars for every lesson , or buy one lesson for 1/4 (or what ever percentage works) of every single lesson if you subscribe “ ….I think at this moment monthly subscription is $20+/-, so instead of the old $1.99 per lesson that use to be charged …charge $5 or $6, $7,$8 per song purchase …. That way you probably wouldn’t lose many if any “lazy subscribers” and more than likely have a ton of more sporadic income when new songs are added and or new players find the app…..so that and the lack of record keeping on sales (or lack of going through records to verify purchases ) is why I’m rating 2 stars. The lessons themselves are very decent and comprehensive , but forcing people to spend $20 a month when a ton of us might open the app a couple times a month at the very most for just one or two song per that month seems kind of mean hehe.. and not very “guitar zen like “ lol
I download the app and automatically starts playing a song with no help with chords or frets, yes the song is playable just beginners have no clue how to play so please help them with chords and many other things
I haven’t had great experiences with many guitar apps that make you pay premiums or fees to use the app for beginners, but this app is the real deal and it doesn’t cost as much as apps like Simply Guitar or other guitar apps. Would recommend to anyone with a guitar!
If you’re looking for a Music app don’t get this week you have to freaking pay for it I’m 10 and I have to pay pay for it I can’t pay for things so unless you’re willing to pay like freaking $10 don’t get it
I used to be able to go on whatever lesson I wanted but now if I click on anything, the whole app crashes. I’ve tried to delete and reinstall the app, and it didn’t work. I tried to reset my phone, and it still didn’t work. I even made a whole new account, and it doesn’t work. I’ve checked for updates but guess what, it’s up to date. I’m really disappointed and I used to be able to use the website on my computer for lessons but now all it asks is to sign up for a “free trial” and then it’s over priced. Does anyone else have this problem?
