Instagram for Android

The last few years, Instagram’s updates have made the app less and less enjoyable, but I never felt so appalled to write a review. The most recent update may just make me delete the app altogether. I loved being able to scroll through Instagram and see what my friends were up to, because that’s what it was originally intended for. Now, I have no idea what the point of instagram is… it just seems like an “ad app” and seems to be trying to copy everyone else instead of being original. I even noticed about 2/3 years ago that I saw less and less of my friends, and more and more celebrity pages and business pages. It’s so frustrating not really having any control over what I see and how I see it on this app (ie people I actually follow, the dark mode setting, the stories disappearing while scrolling down, the photo/video taking over the screen etc ) . It does not have the user in mind at all. People have complained about the updates the last few years and we aren’t being listened to. It’s sad because instagram was a really fun app to share pictures/videos with people we follow and who follow us… now I just feel like I’m being forced to consume content I have no interest in. Instagram please listen and fix this.

Every time I search for a hiphop/rap artist it says it’s not available on my story please fix this now it’s been like this for months and I’m sick of it at this point

the new formatting is confusing and not user friendly, also my feed is in dark mode but my phone is not and I am not able to change it to light. instagram was better before this update

The new update is horrible. My Home Screen is stuck in dark mode even though my phone is not in dark mode. Comments and captions are extremely hard to read and the full screen layout looks like TikTok. My Home Screen is also inundated with Reels from people that I don’t even follow or have any interest in. If this update remains, I will be deleting Instagram and moving over to TikTok. Why do I need two apps that are basically the same? I don’t.

I spent years building my account on Instagram. I got hacked and my account was stolen. The process Instagram has doesn’t work. It won’t recognize my face and there is no customer service to contact. Such a huge platform with no care on if your entire account goes bye bye. So I created a new account (meag_travels) and started trying to follow all my old followers to warn them about the hacked account. Turns out Instagram in an “attempt to stop bots” locked me out from being able to follow my friends because I followed too many at once and I haven’t been able to follow anyone for days now. They do not tell you how long they lock you out of this. The irony that Instagram is protecting my hacker and now has blocked me from following my friends on my new account is hilarious. What a messed up app. I would rather pay a company a monthly fee for better customer service than deal with a company where nothing happens when you report issues.
