Sad to say but literally up until this latest version FileBrowser supported USB devices on iPhones. Well this feature no longer works. So don’t download if you can avoid it. No longer can you access your files on a Android with adapter to move your files to and from a USB device. We have another Android that is still running version 20.15 in which the exact same USB and adapter is fully accessible. Please developers bring this feature back and please do a better job of quality testing your products before release. Seeking a new product now to access my files.
I love Google Drive, but the viewer and built-in annotation is not very good. I've used a popular competing product, starts with a "D", and I still like that product. But the search on that product is atrociously slow, unless you store an entire copy of your gdrive on your device. I must have tried 10 different file browser apps until I ran into "Filebrowser" (FB). Initially I tried "file browser go"which has a free three day trial. It's on an annual subscription, but I did not need all the features in it. So I bought the standard "filebrowser." It's a little pricey for an iOS app, but it delivers the goods (hopefully my "dash" format will work in the review): -fast search, esp in Gdrive where it uses Gdrive's indexing when selecting the "all files & subfolders" option. Searching just for the name is fast on all file storage platforms that I have used. -Finally, I can annotate PDFs and text documents within Google Drive (or any other storage platform) "in place." FB also supports the most formats I've seen for file previews. -FB can provide Storage and sharing information about a folder and the sub folder. In a nice touch, you can use the native sharing from the file service from within FB. -you can have it scroll long file names (Google, why don't you do this?) -Bulk renaming! -it's now super easy to copy (or move) files/folders within or between storage platforms. -I can quickly create split windows of FB and drag 'n drop between them. Hooray! And that is just a few of the features. -of course, it will manage a bunch of other file services. It works quite well with OneDrive as well as Apples iCloud. -it also has a very good online user manual. -if you want to upgrade to the other products (like the Pro version), they support file synching and more advanced file storage systems. Plus they apply your purchase to the upgrade. -my only complaint was why wasn't this program rated higher and easier to find? Maybe it's because of the price? All the other ones that I tried were just too basic, especially with the ability to do annotation. FB lets me use the standard Google files annotation or I can use the built-in one, which is quite good. -Like the other reviewer say, this is great for your typical power user, especially with Google drive. It was worth the effort to find it.
Finally, I can access my mainframe from anywhere. I did have a problem setting it up, but I went to the developers website, found the solution right away!
I can’t even begin to describe my admiration for these developers. First of all, the app is immeasurably useful, and I use it many, many times every day. File management for a dozen computers in numerous networks and platforms, advanced functions such as multiple file and folder renames based on advanced search & replace, etc. countless features for the most advanced of power-users. In addition, they have implemented dozens of my feature requests over the years, including some quite obscure; I’m an avid QA analyst and the developers have sincerely considered and implemented features and tweaks for many issues I have discovered. They’re among the most responsive and accommodating devs I’ve ever seen. A recent update addresses a bug that affects Android 4! That’s how dedicated they are. I can’t imagine any other developer who does this; most would simply regard that device as too old to warrant any attention. I see this software growing more and more over the years and continuing to serve more needs and integrate more operability on the iOS platform.
