I have used Reading A-Z materials in the classroom for many years. I am glad to see they have adapted there materials into apps. The things I like about this app (and the other apps in the series) are these: first, they go along with the books and materials that the classroom is probably already using. The app can be used at home for supplemental work, or in the classroom rather than printing the books off (this saves the teacher a lot of work and a lot of copy paper). Secondly, seeing the books on the Mobile is just more fun for the students. The books are sharper and in color. This is a generation of students who are tuned in to digital media. Kids just respond more to anything digital. That brings me to the third reason I like these apps. The apps are rather plain and simple. There are no distracting interactive goo-gaas for the student to play around with. They are just about reading, that's all. That is not to say there is no merit in other apps that seek to motivate reading with games and flashy special effects. There is a time and place for playing. But I admire Reading A-Z for sticking to what they have been doing well for many years. These are quality reading materials that build reading skills in a sequential order--plain an simple.
This is a fun book for a beginning reader. I love it on my IPod Touch because my grandchildren can read it again and again no matter where we are. I love these books. Keep them coming!
