The iOS version of this app is painful to use in timed games where making moves quickly is essential. First, there is no way to turn off the movement animations, so when you move a piece from one square to another, you have to wait and watch the animation. If you try to register in your next move while the animation is in process, your move is canceled. In Android, you can turn off the animation which is sooo much better. The pre-move functionality also does not seem to work as well as it does in the Android app. Specifically I changing a pre move doesn’t work like it does on Android. After switching to Android I am losing a lot of games due to timeouts. Using iOS puts you at a serious disadvantage!
iOS app keeps freezing during games after opponent’s move, where the opponent’s move is suddenly reversed and I can’t play my own. Then when I resign, the opponent’s move finally pops back into existence. Absolutely terrible.
I’ve got 4 minutes left in a blitz game and I take a 15 second phone call and I’ve lost for abandonment? But oh if I pay $$ I can turn this feature off? Really obnoxious both the pay to win aspect and the killing me off for a short break in a timed game.
It’s a great app; but my favorite thing is doing the chess variants which is not on the app. I have to go on the website and it’s loads significantly slower.
