I downloaded this app about a couple of years ago, and it worked fine, but when iOS 13 released i started having issues and now the app won’t load
Is this app not working properly, it’s only doing about half of its functionality?
Unresponsive app developer. Notification of an earthquake will give magnitude and area of location but, usually, you can’t find the location in the map. Even the list of earthquakes for a U.S. state or magnitude doesn’t list an large magnitude earthquake within 65 to 90 minutes of the notification—if at all. The pins indicating earthquake epicenters change location by as much as 600 miles when shrinking or expanding maps. What looks like an earthquake in your town is likely to have occurred elsewhere. Many epicenters are mis-plotted. The maps don’t show all the earthquakes that happen in an area until you get down to a scale so small you can’t see activity overall: thus, you can’t determine trends in the seismic activity. In essence, this app is of little scientific or professional value, and thus should be considered useful for entertainment purposes only if even that.
I used this App for many years and I really like its quick notifications and accuracy. However, I think it did not follow a common sense rule, and replaced “Taiwan” (Republic of China) to “Japan” since about a year ago. For example, the latest 5.7 magnitude quake happened on October 23, UTC time 4:34 AM at 104 KM east of Taiwan, but this App shows it happened in “Japan”. I think the App developers need to re-take some Geography training. Don’t you know this particular earthquake center is 600+ KM away from the nearest Japan island Okinawa? Or, don’t you know Taiwan is NOT part of Japan and NOT part of Mainland China either? Why don’t you just change California or Hawaii to Japan next time? The computer system will not make such mistakes. Only human being can make such things happened, but that’s not called a mistake - but called discrimination!
Update..still not showing where a particular quake is when it happens-STILL not fixed. There used to be a Map link that you could touch and it would bring you right to where the quake happened on the map. It’s gone. My husband goes to Japan often, and when there’s a quake there, I WANT TO SEE WHERE THAT QUAKE IS!! FIX IT!! ——- Terrible update when you take away a good feature! I would give it zero stars if I could. You took away the map option to bring you to that quake. I also find it frustrating not to be able to move the map all the way around, in the Pacific. You can't go beyond a certain point going west and have to go all the way east to get there, or vice versa. It's hard to explain, but the app needs to be able to go 360 all the way around in one direction or the other.
