First of all, compliments to whoever directed the art style, because it fits the game extremely well and is what brought me into getting the game in the first place. I have not played that much yet but the little intro before survivor is breathtakingly good. The gameplay loop is amazing, the sound design fresh and unique. Of course, if it was perfect I would have given it four stars. The gameplay currently is a little lacking with only three characters, simple enemies, and is lacking in the power up department. On the topic of power ups, The power up drop system contains my least favorite part of the game: RNG. I feel like my runs just boil down to: “if I don’t get lucky and get a health pack, I die here.” Which does fit the aesthetic for the game, but during the gameplay it’s frustrating to get a health pack when you don’t need it, Or ammo when your ammo is already full. I don’t think removing the is the right solution, as the RNG helps add more difficulty to the game, so here’s my suggestion: a single inventory slot. You can carry a health pack or ammo pack if you find one, and swap it out whenever as well. You can use it at any time, but the draw back is that it takes a single turn to use so you can’t use it mid fight, and if you are hit while using the healthpack/ammo kit, it gets cancelled (and the item doesn’t get consumed). So in summary very good game with great art, sound design, and game CONCEPT, just lacking a little in certain areas. I am still having a blast with this game and can’t wait to see where it goes!
I think that the game overall is underrated and great, but the only issue to discuss is the difficulty with defeating zombies. If you have to melee them, it’s impossible not to receive 1-2 damage and I have troubles with that. I have always died from the basic zombies
needs more recognition such a cool game
I’m not really the type of person to leave a review, but with this game I can see myself playing this game a lot and there is some potential in this one. I’ve enjoyed this gameplay loop and the pixelated visuals. But I was a bit confused about how to unlock the other characters. Additionally, I feel that the sense of character progression is currently missing. I would suggest that maybe after completing that set of weeks, you could give the option to progress further or return to some kind of safe point to get your equipment/level in order before re-entering the apocalypse. Besides that, I would like to see this game expanded upon in the near future. Keep up the good work!
Had quite a few bugs and freezing. This absolutely shreds simple retro games from surviving. Better get it fixed
