    FUJIFILM XApp Reviews

    • Geotagging requires “Always” sharing location & Bluetooth reconnection when app is in background

The issue of requiring to set to “Always” sharing location is really not an issue because is really optional. It is only required if people want to have geotagging while taking photos at all the times which is one of the key features of this app. The app must continuously share the Android location with the camera while the app is in the background and this can only be accomplished if the setting in the Android is set to “Always”. By the way, your Android will remain you every few days if you want to keep sharing in the background or change it to only when you use the app. To set it to “only when using the app” would only work while the app is open in the foreground showing on the screen which is not typically the case when we are about taking photos with the camera. So the need for “Always” is warranted if people want to use geotagging at all times. Still, people should have the option to set the setting to “only when using the App”. Which I believe allowed now (you can go to location settings after installing the app). The main issue with the app right now is that it does not re-establish the Bluetooth connection while the app is in the background. This is a must if we want to keep the camera connected to receive the location at all times. Otherwise, the BT connection is lost as soon as the camera is turned off and then when it is turned on again the app would not re-established the connection as the software is not written to enable to check the connection while in the background state. This must be fixed asap.

    • About time

Finally you’ve done it, FujiFilm. I can’t give you 5 stars, but 4 is well deserved. While I can connect and transfer photos from my X-T30, the app is pretty much useless to use with my X-T100 Bayer sensor camera and I don’t think you should dare to tell us to use the awful CameraRemote app. Yet, you have an audacity to do… Fix it please and drop an old app. PS I have to downgrade my review to 3 stars after all…. Why do you require a location to be on?! Why overcomplicate simple things instead of giving an option, FujiFilm? And again, why do you discriminate against owners of lower grade models such us my X-T100 with a Bayer sensor? You tell us to use an old app which you know don’t work…

    • Privacy issues.

The app requires always on location access and your precise location and won’t let you use the app at all if you don’t allow it. iOS notified me of the app checking my location multiple despite not having opened it for several days. I’ll be uninstalling until I can use the app without the invasion of privacy.

    • Location: battery drain and privacy

I want to use the application as a camera remote control and to transfer files to my phone. The application does not need to know my location to implement these features. The application does not function unless the application is given permission to get my location “Always”. I do not want the application to drain my battery by checking for location information the the background. The application includes coarse location information the analytics sent to FujiFilm. I don’t want FujiFilm to know where my phone has been.

    • what a disaster

this app has terrible privacy management. It asks location and notification to be on all the time. I don't understand why you need these to be on for just transferring photos?! And Fuji even messed up with some country's official name on the first version LOL Your previous app was already a disaster and now you release a even worse one. GOOD JOB FUJI!
