While I really enjoy the calming home screen, the recordings themselves lack some basic common sense. One I listened to spent 2+ minutes talking about work stress, letting family down, and actively worked on bringing up bad memories from the day. And not in the sense where they’re telling you to let things go. Stories include themes of divorce, loss, failure, and to-do lists. When I’m falling asleep, I’m trying to forget about the negative things that I’ve experienced in the day, or the many things I still need to get done. Bringing it up as part of the stories immediately pulls me out of relaxation and makes me stress again. Especially when the narrative does nothing to guide you toward letting go of these things, and even brings more specificity to potential intrusive thoughts. In addition to having questionable subject matter, the recordings jump immediately into the story. There’s no moment for you to get comfortable or take a few deep breaths. Overall, this is the least enjoyable sleep story/sleep medication app I’ve encountered so far. You’re much better off sticking with Calm, Slumber, or Headspace.
