Fantasy Life Online for Android

Installed the game and opened it for the first time. I get a loading screen with no progress bar or any indication anything is happening. It never progressed beyond that.

The last yokai update has thrown some things off. The load screen now has Japanese options to pick from and I don’t know how to start the game. I hit ok but it never loads. Just waiting for things to settle and correct itself.

I’ve been playing this almost since the beginning. The concept and game play is good. I love the counter attack feature on mercs and paladins. However the game interface feels so slow, sluggish and clunky. I’m using a top of the line phone too.

The original fantasy life game was a lot of fun to play. I do play this one a lot but there is a depressing amount of wasted potential and content the game could offer. There is an official discord for the game, but the developers really never reply to anything or give feedback that has any concrete meaning. A majority of replies from them is like legal jargon from a lawyer where a lot of words are said but nothing definitive. The support staff isn’t really the best either. The responses they give a lot of the time seem to be the same or similar, regardless of the problem reported. “Will let the devs know this, thanks.” Sometimes the problems are fixed, sometimes they don’t really get any attention. The in app purchases are really quite expensive. Recently they had one with a sword and shield that was roughly $100 USD. I just cannot justify putting money into a game where the devs put in the lackluster effort they do. I will admit there have been very few moments where the devs add a feature that is awesome and a blessed quality of life inclusion. It is also usually followed with a lot of bugs though. Such as the inclusion of auto crafting on loop mode. Which was well needed and overdo, but it using it for a prolonged period of time and then stopping to do something else in the game almost always results in the game freezing and you having to restart. The load times are also pretty long at the beginning of the game. This is a pretty long rant, but it frustrates me so much to have a game with such immense potential to be squandered and soured with cash grabs. The story mode is updated very infrequently and there are weekly events rushed all the time so that if you want the limited gear, you’re pouring many hours into completing that one event. There are usually multiple events going on at a time, which that’s all you end up spending your time doing. Overall it is a fun game despite the few faults I listed above. I don’t really want to get into listing all of the problems with FLO as I have little to no faith in the abilities of the devs or Boltrend as a whole to change the nosedive the game is taking. It’s been out for roughly 6 months and already there have been 2 events to invite new players, which is often just people making fake accounts, to show that the game is active when it really is losing a lot of players. People leave in droves because it is apparent that them expecting a quality game with the bugs being taken care of and frequent updates with new content besides just another boring event the same as the one last week is in vain. I hope to be able to change this review and that I am proven wrong with the work ethic of the devs. If you like a game to waste time on I’d get Minecraft lol.
