Always open this app anytime I’m in a new city. Sometimes spooky and always fun!
I love AO’s content, but scrolling through the list of sites for a city cause the map to move and the list to refresh. It’s aggravating and makes the app difficult (infuriating) to use in larger cities - if they just fixed it, it would be my favorite travel app.
I would love to give this app 5 stars - I consider Atlas Obscura an essential travel tool through which I’ve found some amazing places. I’m docking a star because the app has a few minor issues with the interface: the pins are hard to accurately tap on the map view(particularly in places with lots of pins close to each other), sometimes there’s a confusing lag when adding a place to your want to go or have been lists, the list view (as opposed to the map view) doesn’t always show consistent results, among others. None of these little issues are make or break items but added together they’re a little annoying.
You can’t put in coordinates for a trip and explore what’s along the way. Or get a suggested route for, say, historic plaques, ice cream, and cheese within 150 miles. A feature like that seems like it would be a no brainer.
Love going to all these spots that I and almost no one else knows even existed.
