Yaaasss. It felt so good sticking it to the old men stuck in their ways and wielding the sword. It’s my birthday and I’ll stab if I want to. My only complaint are the controls got me killed sometimes, but death is pretty forgiving, which I super appreciate in puzzle games. I had to use hints sometimes, which I was immensely grateful for. Loved the narrator. She has a lovely voice. I’d totally listen if she ever did audio books. The art was beautiful. The story was well woven. A beautiful gem of a game that I finished in two play sessions (hyperfocus fo). A part two would be awesome. But hopefully not a repeat of going into a similar dungeon.
For some reason any time I move with WASD or the arrow keys, my character moves twice. When I swipe I only move once, so I know it’s not the default movement length. Swiping is kind of awkward for me so I’d rather just use the keyboard but some of the puzzles require single tile movement. Fantastic game, hope this gets addressed though!
Weak controls. Great puzzles, tho.
I never write reviews, but this game is so fantastic I simply had to give it one. I have never been so engrossed in a mobile game before - ever. The controls are simple and streamlined; I had a little trouble with the touchscreen aspect of them but they are still some of the best touchscreen controls I've seen for a game. The gameplay is super satisfying. Each level is short and sweet, but very engaging and well-crafted. Not a single dud among them! The story, which I was not expecting to be anything more than an excuse for a dungeon crawl, was very engaging! I felt connected to these characters and became emotionally involved. The art style is great. Simple, functional, and mood-setting. It also does a great job of evoking classic dungeon crawler games of yore. I highly recommend playing with sound on! Sound effects are great, and though minimal the voice acting is extremely well-done. Not too hard, not too easy gameplay. Every level is, at its heart, a puzzle to be solved. No life counters, no timers, just you and a puzzle. Hints are available but they are 100% optional. Ads aren't too bad, either. Ads only play as you move between levels, they never pop up right in the middle of a level. I did pay to remove ads, but mostly because I wanted to support the awesome developers!
Fun puzzles, interesting story, and tricky gameplay. You fail a lot before you figure it out, and stick with it. You can figure it all out. Graphics are excellent, gameplay was a blast, and the UX was pretty smooth.
