Flora - Plant ID & Diagnosis for Android

Update #1: (TLDR: wait for this app’s upcoming update on 6/15/22!) I’m bumping this review up a star because after 2 extra tries, I finally got the app to realize that my Snake Plant was indeed a Snake Plant. Furthermore, I finally got through another wonky error I didn’t mention in my initial review, which was that signing up with Google was broken for me. It allowed me to register my first plant and room, and then it kept telling me to “complete email registration,” rendering the rest of the app inoperable. After getting through that mess, I finally got into the app and that’s when I can see the hype of this app comes from - its like Planta, Plantin, and Candide all had a child together and this was the child in terms of presentation However, I cannot bump it up to more than 2/5 stars because there needs more polish. I feel like I’m running a developer version where I need to know Python or C++ to get certain features to work. I did see that there’s a big update coming in 6/15/22 so hopefully I can finally give y’all the 5/5 y’all are striving for :) Original Review: With all due respect I love the UI but y’all kinda lost me when the app thought my Snake Plant was a Croton. Just keep fleshing out the database and the UI, and I’ll see where y’all are in the future! Good luck :)

Emailed support and received no response. Also, tried diagnosing a plant and even though I put the same symptoms over and over again, got a different diagnosis each time.

I have been using this app for I think around a year now and it has only gotten better! I love the tips for plants that it gives and the ability to add custom plants has always been very useful for me ! With each update the app gets smoother and better and I can’t wait to see what comes next! They’re constantly improving and the fact that the app maintains a minimal design while still feeling alive is a giant plus! Great job on a fantastic app !

I’ve been using this app since beta. I added my first plant over a year ago and had recommended it to many friends. I have liked seeing it grow and evolve over time. I loved that I could add notes and see other peoples plants too. I’m so disappointed that there’s a 5 plant limit now when I’ve had well over that since before I even got the app. I don’t need the extra features and refuse to pay that much. I could buy a new plant a month with the price I just won’t be able to add it here. I’ll be looking for another app to use.

UPDATE: So customer service has reached out to me and has alleviated the problem. I highly appreciate their desire to help out and make the situation better! I’m fully enjoying the app and I couldn’t be more thankful for them. Thank you so much! ORIGINAL: I love this app so much. It’s everything I could ever want in an app. That being said, I understand that subscription services cost money, but I’m honestly a little upset that I have to pay to add more plants to my garden. I’ve already bought these plants and seeing I have to pay money to list plants I already own is just… I don’t get it. These subscription services aren’t great for me since there are some months where I just don’t have the money for that and I don’t have a need most of the paid features. I’d only be buying it for this one thing and that just feels like a poor financial decision. Sadly I can’t show off most of my plants because of this which is a huge turn off so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to actually use the app. Hopefully one day that’ll be fixed.
