i have been following LA work outs since it was on just her instagram. i have always been a huge fan of being able to do all these work outs within 30 min and at home. it's perfect for my season of life. i like how they all aren't super high intensity so some days it's a stretch or a walk. others it's jumping and more intense. and the calendar telling me what to do is really motivating for me because i don't want to miss one. nor do i have to come up with something to go. i like her slow and controlled moves and some that are completely new to me. working multiple parts of the body in one work out. i just canceled my gym membership to just do the app. its so much more attainable for me!
I love this app. I think what I appreciate so much is that there is not a focus on appearance but instead of focus on getting stronger and feeling mentally great. Doing the 28 day challenge and I think it is perfect for someone like me who is getting back into exercising after a lull. LA is great at giving options and her background as a PT shines through- there’s a lot of emphasis on proper form which is so needed and is often missing from exercise apps.
I started doing LA’s workouts on YouTube for about a year. And was so happy she created this app. I enjoy doing them and listening to all her knowledge as she guides you through them. It’s not only about how you will look but about how strong your body will get as your health improves. I cannot say enough good things about how her workouts have affected my life in such a positive way!! Thank you LA!
The app’s functionality could use work. I’ve been doing the 28 days of movement challenge and it’s claimed I’m on Day 4 for two weeks! Some of the videos have sound and others don’t which feels inconsistent. I think it’s imperative for all app workouts to have a guided option and let the users elect to turn the volume off. Best to assume people coming to an app for workouts need the extra help. As far as pricing is concerned it does feel a bit expensive when you compare it to other apps in the same price range. It offers less than Centr for example. But Dr. Gustin’s educational background is why I use her app. I am a retired dancer and suffer from a lot of old injuries. Her approach to workouts and movement works for me and I can do them consistently. Plus it’s cheaper than me ambling around a gym not knowing what to do for way more money in membership fees. Totally true that you can find workouts on YouTube for free if that’s your thing. But that’s like comparing apples and oranges. I don’t think that’s a good justification for a one star review. Definitely plan on keeping the app. Hope they continue to make improvements. The content is great.
I have been using dare to be active for about a year now and LA’s workouts are the only workouts that I enjoy. her workouts are so simple and she explains everything so clearly so it’s easy to understand! I do feel that the premium can be a bit pricey and there are only a few free workouts but I do think it’s worth it!
