but it gets old really fast.

There's nothing technically wrong with this game, but there's nothing fun or enjoyable about it either. You click and drag more or less randomly until you see an indicator saying you're close, then drag around some more until you get it. I guess there's a story but it's not integral to the game at all.

Possessions is the latest entry in the current gaming trend of "Pretentious HIpster Adult Picturebook" games. The "Game" feautres a "story" about instrospective young adult problems as told through EXCRUTIATINGLY slow still images that flash on the screen while maudline "emotional" music plays. To call the thing "on the nose" is to give it too much credit. It's utterly painful to sit through. And while the story is "emotional™" and "meaningful™", it has nothing to do with the gameplay on the outset. The two things are completley unrelated. This means that your gameplay is constantly interupted my slow, plodding cutscens that I can't imagine anyone caring about. You are stopping one thing to be shown a completley seperate thing with no connection. You can thankfully skip the cut scenes and move on with the puzzles, but the puzzles are also terrible. The gameplay focuses on rotating a diarama style room in order to put floating objects in their places using perspective. But because the objects can go anywhere, there is no real "puzzles" as to where they go. You are forced to rotate the room around willy-nilly until a symbol pops up on the screen alerting you that you are "warm", "warmer" and then "hot". Once you fill all three sybols, the object snaps to its arbitary place in the room and you can move on to the next one. This is the biggest problem with the game: The objects MUST be placed in the order the game determines beforehand. This means that you might not even know which item the game wants you to snap first. YOu might spend 2 minutes trying to figure out where a pot goes only to relalize that you had it right in the first few seconds but the game wants you to place the "Elephant sculpture" first and nothing can be done until that is complete. The game doesn't TELL you this. You just have to proceed with trial and error. ALl this takes time and rewards you with no fun. That's really all that can be said about Possessions. It's not any fun. Google calls it a "zen puzzler", and I can see how that would be the case. If you like popping buble wrap or pulling hangnails or something for enjoyment, this could scratch that similar itch. But that's not a game. It's just mindless activity.

I enjoyed the game, but, good lord, what a depressing story! Why must it be so sad???
