Missing some basic features that make this app no more than a gimmic: 1) No support for custom repeats (ex. monday and tuesday every week) like pretty much every other calendar/time-based app that has ever existed 2) No custom formatting, only pre-defined for some reason
Overall it's pretty close but would need the ability to customize what is shown in the menubar to get to 5 stars. Could be a paid feature. I really don't need seconds ticking away (or minutes for that matter) for an even 100 days away.
Fantastic app. Would it be possible though to use a day-hour format? It doesn't seem like you can use custom advanced formatters, only the predefined ones.
I feel bad for providing a low rating since the developer provides one free event, but it's better to be honest than nice. Put simply, I was looking for something that does almost exactly what this app does: show an event in the menu bar with a countdown. Unfortunately, the implementation in this app is pretty poor. In particular, the countdown is WAY too granular with little to no option for simplification. I have an event next year, for example, and I only want to see how days days are left; however, the app forces you to see it in a format like "1 year, 111 days, 11 hours, 11 seconds." Why?! I read that seconds can be turned off, but (1) I could not find this option; and (2) that's still insufficient. I only want days! Not years, not hours—days. I saw there was a short countdown option, but that just revealed another terrible thing about this app: changing the type of countdown on one you've already made resets the date! So I had a regular countdown for, say, March 1, 2121, but when I switched it to short countdown and saw that it was not at all what I expected (it's a manually defined countdown) and then switched it back, it completely reset the date to today, forcing me to once again manually scroll through the calendar interface. So first, why would you make a defined countdown reset? And second, why can't we just enter a date manually rather than using that calendar implementation? This is a straightforward idea for an app, but the execution is poor. I hope the developer fixes these really simple things.
I tried to submit feedback through the App Support link on the App Store page, but it goes to a website on go dot crisp dot chat that shows a spinner and never does anything else. The product website is nothing more than a looping video with no other way to contact the developer. Since I paid for the Pro subscription, this is very disapointing to me. Here's the bug that I tried to report. I have a countdown timer set for 12:00:00 AM on April 1 2020. I have it set to display only the most significant unit, in this case days. The bug is that the countdown updates in the middie of the day, not at midnight as you would expect. It's not an earth shattering bug, and I like everything else about the App. The inability to communicate with the developer in any way other than leaving a review is why I'm rating it 2 stars. I'll happily upgrade this review to 5 stars when a) the bug is fixed, and b) there's a way to communicate with the developer.
