First run with this new app and it seems to run as advertised. Keep up the good work guys and please continue to sending out updates over the air. It means a lot to me knowing that app creators will continue to polish their apps and adding New features!
There’s a lot of love about this app, it works great for ride tracking and checking VESC telemetry. However, it’s got a lot of bugs. For starters, if the units are set to imperial (Fahrenheit, miles, etc.), it displays the wrong motor temperature. It seems that the math to convert the motor temp to Fahrenheit isn’t being done correctly. First of all, when the units are set to Fahrenheit, the motor temperature still displays with °C at the end, NOT °F. That was probably just a small oversight, but it shows the motor temperature at about 170°C when it’s actually at room temperature, which is not at all correct. I know for a fact that this is NOT a problem with my board, the Stormcore app displays the temperature in Fahrenheit just fine, and this app displays the correct motor temperature when set to Celsius. And oddly enough, this app DOES display the correct ESC temperature when set to Fahrenheit, it’s only the motor temperature that is problematic. Also, in the battery settings, it seems that the Li-ion/lipo setting is backwards. My battery is a li-ion pack, and when I set the battery to LIPO in this app, it displays the correct Wh rating, but when set to li-ion it displays the wrong one. The feature to change VESC settings is also useless. If I change current limits on the VESC in this app, after I write the changes to the VESC the motors spin the wrong way. The motors spin in the opposite directions of each other, rendering the board unrideable. There is NO way to fix this through the app after it happens, this app doesn’t have the option to change motor direction. Before VESC tool for iOS was out, I had discovered this problem on a group ride. I tried to change my VESC settings in this app, and after I wrote them to the board, one motor spun forwards and the other spun backwards. I had to run around and find someone with an Android phone who had VESC tool mobile so I could fix the board, or else I would’ve had to leave the group ride. It’s not all bad though, this app IS the most feature-rich VESC tracking app on iOS (besides VESC tool). I especially like the setting to double VESC data so it will show the appropriate stats for a dual motor board. Overall though, considering this app was $10 I expect it to not have these irritating bugs, or at least to fix them. I reported all of these bugs months ago, both through the app and on the esk8.news forum, and I never heard back from the developer. They were never fixed. I really want to like this app, but considering it’s a paid app (and an expensive one at that), I just can’t recommend it in its current state with all of these bugs.
App worked great up until 2 months ago. It no longer shows the battery level/charging. I have focbox unity and connects Bluetooth.Really the only reason why I have this app is so I can see my battery level, now there’s no way for me to check it. I updated the firmware and the app as well.
Great app, needs support for the new VESC software. Otherwise useless. The ability to configure settings like in the VESC tool would be a feature I would 100% pay for. (Throttle curve, smart current reverse, deadband, traction control, etc)
