As someone who had no clue what a moog was, this app has blown my mind and completely inspired me. Best Mobile app I’ve seen.
Finally I can moog like a miniature cow in my art for the world (my mom) to hear. Cow go MOOOOOOG. In all seriousness though this is a fantastic synth. Definitely worth what they charge in the App Store. This app stays true to the hardware original. Get it
Getting the type of sound that Model D delivers is not that easy out of other synths (if at all possible), it has very distinct and unique tone. I tried mimicking it using couple of other Mobile synths but the harmonic thicknesses just wasn’t there. Excellent synth and a must-buy for anyone looking for excellent quality Moog tones. UI is the main drawback for me though. It’s awkwardly designed imho, especially AUv3. Things are placed into Settings/Advanced that are part of the synthesizer controls: Legato/Retrigger/Poly, LFO waveform, contour shape. And in AUv3, in addition to those (because keyboard portion is removed) the following things are also moved to Settings: LFO rate, Mod amount, Glide and Decay. I hope the Developer will give us all of the synth’s controls on one page in some near future. There’s plenty of room, and that’s not what Settings is for anyway. Settings are for app-related stuff like knob behavior, color scheme, MIDI settings etc, not for things like LFO rate and modulation amount. Text labels are a bit tiny. I can read it if I move my face very close to my 10.5” Mobile, but there’s plenty of room to make them a bit larger. Preset management is nice if you intend to ever create/use like 10 or 20 presets, top slider holds 6 of them and gives quick access to switch between them. Tap right/left to get another 6. This is great if you’re playing live. But if you want to make more presets, then this kind of scrolling interface is completely unproductive. If you get more presets later, it’ll be pretty hard to go through them as well. A standard scrollbox where you can quickly browse categories and patches to get to the ones you need is kind of hard to beat - why reinvent the wheel. Presets are alphabetical, so that’s definitely a plus, (those slot-based preset systems some synth-makers cling to can be very annoying to manage). Overall, I’m glad I bought this synth, amazing sound quality! Though I wish it had better UI and standard presets browser.
Great sound. Some of the other virtual synths sound hollow/not full/no depth. This synth though has all though things and more. The real world look and feel of the knobs top notch. But; the playability and sound top notch.
