I started Galactic Empires, now Galaxy Reborn early on from the days of 2007 thru the decades but now the visuals equal the intense strategy of old. You may get crashed! but now you can actually see it coming. 2020 the year the Galaxy is REBORN! (these are solely the opinion of Avenger, i can’t speak for you)
While this game is enjoyable it has a few flaws which make it less so. The first issue is moons, they give players who have them a massive advantage. The advantage they provide is so great that they take all the guesswork out of playing and subsequently reduce competition to number crunching with battle simulators and timers. Oh and only the lucky players get moons, some players attempt dozens of “moonshots” wasting millions of resources with nothing to show for it. Maybe make a moon guaranteed after the 10th attempt? The second issue is the meager “new player protection” afforded to new players just starting the game. After newbies surpass a certain point threshold they’re open season for old players who have the experience and the resources to easily take them out. Further notes: -The competition for the coveted “8 slot” is ridiculous. Maybe randomize planet fields in different slots to maximize the value of each system? -Maybe add another way to obtain resources other than farming other players or tedious mining? Previous iterations of the game had black holes and alien hostiles that could be encountered to obtain resources. These features made the game more interesting and allowed for more varied playing styles. -Include a better “fleetsaving” tool. Everyone has obligations in life and can’t tend to their empire all hours of the day, every day of the week. It’s stressful and annoying to have to worry about someone destroying months worth of work while you are busy and can’t send your fleet off again to keep it from being destroyed. -Improve in-game messaging. Show sent messages and include a block feature. All of that said, the main reason I won’t be playing this game long term is because it requires way too much time to remain competitive.
A player remake of an old Ogame clone. The best one out there for Android! Suggest having this app come up when searching for Ogame in the App Store. Really odd that it doesn’t. This game is all about strategy. A rare find in this day and age.
One of the last few good mobile competitive games that isn’t pay2win
Anyone starting is facing a limited protection mode that is effective for very new accounts. After a few days, players with several months of resources and advances have free play to attack. Ship speeds and limited galaxy size make it impossible to hide fleets for any time, except those players that were in at the beginning so they have had time to accumulate moons and other advantages not available to new start ups. Add in the inevitable trolls that stalk competitive games with chat features and it all gets pretty mucked up. The original browser game this is based on (OGame) has a mobile display version and they regularly start new “universes” so start ups stand a chance to have decent game play. I played the first version of Galaxy Reborn (galactic empires) as a top 25 player until the trolls became too much. The same personality and no improvements to game play make this an unpleasant waste of time.
