I’m deleting this app. Every time I try to click anything, I get a full sized ad counting down 5 seconds before I can close it. I can’t even open the app, go to my library, open a podcast, browse episodes, add an episode, click play without- LITERALLY 6 full sized ads wasting 30 seconds of my time. Open a podcast page? AD. Browse episodes left? AD. Decide I want to listen to a different podcast? AD. It’s is unbearable. I’m switching to a different app.
This app is ad driven. The ads are extremely obnoxious. They pop up randomly and unpredictably. They often block critical app functionality. It’s so difficult to switch podcast apps, and I feel like I was tricked by this app. It acted very useful at first, but the ads and functionality have slowly made it worse and worse. I suspect that the functionality is designed to create this effect. You are lured in with a working app, but slowly given an ad machine. Eventually you will be driven to switch, but only after many ads and much suffering.
Starting a couple days ago, every episode of every podcast started skipping about every 5 seconds. I closed the app and restarted, then tried restarting my phone, but no luck. I really don’t want to uninstall/reinstall the app bc I just did that a few months ago and it took time to reset all my preferences, etc. Please fix!!
I switched to Castbox after Apple’s horrendous podcast app update a few years ago, and for the most part, it did the job fine. However, it’s gotten increasingly buggy lately, and while I understand the company has to make money, the ads have gotten to be too much. (Having to wait for ads to load and click through them every time I switch podcasts in the library)
