This software is strictly for card play practice - all hands are pre-bid. The software asks occasional questions to develop skills in analyzing hands. When you are about to make a serious error, you are warned and prevented from doing it with a brief explanation. The best part is that the program keeps track of hands you played with errors, and you can go back and replay them at any time until you can play them flawlessly. Learn your bidding elsewhere - there is a bidding module in this series, but I haven’t tried it yet. This is just what I needed. Most teaching programs start with bidding, presumably because you can’t really begin to play an actual hand without learning to bid, but in practice bidding doesn’t make much sense until you have mastered the mechanics of taking tricks.
This software is similar to the “Bridge Master” software, in that it gives you 115 deals which, generally, have one correct way of making or exceeding the contract. The visual presentation is very simple, with no frills; it is not pretty software. But it is effective, and the frequent questions help you to stay on task and offer little hints as to the proper way of playing. I look forward to trying the the other Bridge software from this developer.
