I play fingerstyle guitar and was looking for something that pick up MIDI notes from only the three high strings and ignore the notes from the lower strings. I use MIDI Guitar 2 to convert my guitar audio signal into MIDI notes. Things sometimes get a bit messy with fingerstyle playing through MIDI Guitar 2. It really can’t keep up at full speed. I realize that one remedy might be to have only my highest notes transmit MIDI signals and let the rest just be the sound of the guitar itself. MIDI Flow Splitter does just that! Also opens up a lot of possibilities for sound layering and maybe having one instrument play at one octave and another at the next octave and another at.... Really opens up the imagination! I did encounter the problem of note freezing (feedback? infinite sustain) when adjusting the fader for Splitter on Audiobus. I remedied that by not touching that fader. I set my level with the MIDI Guitar 2 fader that comes before in the chain. I could adjust within the MIDI Guitar 2 app as well, I’d guess.
after hours of work, no longer works with new IOS. No support from developer. So stressful with live show days away.
This thing works really well when you first start using it—but in combination with Midiflow Adapter, when you touch any of the faders on the audio bus mixer screen, all the instruments go into a ‘continuous sustain mode’ then everything freezes up and you have to reboot the Mobile to make it work again. I have sent emails and Messaged the developer with no response. So sad because this could’ve been such a wonderful app.
Developer has capitulated to the scourge of the GDPR. Sad.
This along with midi flow adaptor helped me split korg gadget and use different gadgets on various sections of my MIDI keyboard for LIVE performance.
