1. Rather than being a calculator for theoretical exercises it’s designed for being a practical tool in the field, and it has a thorough user manual that describes real use cases.
2. In addition to the normal depth of field calculator it supports tilted depth of field (tilt-shift lenses, Scheimpflug principle) as well as focus stacking.
3. Custom circle of confusion sizes can be set, which in addition to a fixed number may be relative to airy disc diameter and/or pixel pitch.
4. The Lumariver Depth of Field Calculator is an app that helps you maximize the sharpness of your photographs.
5. It even supports dual circle of confusion sizes, one “sharp” and one “soft” to make it easy to do controlled trade-offs in difficult situations.

The measurements are in meters only and the closest focus distance is two meters. Often for portraits my distance is less than that so the app is very limited for me. My fault for not taking the developer at his word, it’s for landscape work.
Awesome and useful for modern high-res digital sensors, flexible to configure to your sharpness priorities. Tilt calculations are sophisticated but clearly illustrated. Developer is a photographer and very responsive.
This app was obviously designed by a photographer who actually uses lens tilt movement in the field. It is set up to be flexible enough to use with a ground glass, live view or even blind shooting. Starting with the ability to calculate CoC in a variety of ways, and finishing with a brilliantly-versatile layout that gives you what you need, this app is quite useful while shooting. Perhaps a bit intimidating at first for those who are not comfortable with how the Scheimpflug principle works. But it can help with that too, since playing around with the sliders shows clearly what changing tilt angle and focus distance does. The flexibility in calculating CoC allows you to configure this to your needs, which ultimately means you can trust the results. There is a nice attention to details, like always displaying the hyperfocal distance at the bottom.
