The Local for Android

I agree with the other user- great content if you can get it- but I almost never can… it continually logs you out and then tries to sell you a subscription-which you have already paid for! I have contacted the helpdesk twice and they do not even respond. Why don’t they cancel their IT guys and get someone who can do the job? This is not a small paper. I have several new subscriptions and I never had this problem with any of them. Very disappointing as I will be canceling my subscription as well.

I thought a news app would be the most compatible app on any Google device because it is just simply reading digital articles, kinda what an Mobile was made for… The second I downloaded and opened it on my Mobile I deleted it immediately after. I would be happy to see the local on Google News or a better digital news service. I additionally would be much more inclined to purchase Google news subscription to read the local. I see the headlines of the articles and want to read them so bad, but then a paywall comes up. So I was about to cave in and pay but again the Mobile app was not formatted for an Mobile so I gave up. Looking forward to the local being on Google News.

This app isn’t even functional for me, yet the news provided by the local is top notch. I recommend just using the website in safari.

The app works fine as does the website and most links. Articles are super helpful and tailored to learning about a variety of European countries. My family used the info for a longer trip to Switzerland and Austria and the content was timely and informative. The staff promptly returned my inquiries and I just extended my subscription to a year as we coordinate more travels to these countries.

I believe that The Local must spend all of their money on reporting the news and none of their money on their app. It functions only as a web browser. No saving of stories. No search function. You are better off using your mobile browser-even with a paid subscription. Don’t bother with this app.
